SOUTHWICK FIRE DEPARTMENT

The Southwick Fire Department is made up of One Full Time Fire Chief, One full time Firefighter/EMT, and 43 well trained volunteer firefighters serving the town of Southwick. Volunteer Firemen will respond to any emergency 24/7, no matter what time of day it is. At the minimum every firefighter has successfully completed a Firefighter 1 course through the Hartford County Regional Fire School. Many Firefighters have gone on to take many more advanced courses from both Massachusetts and Connecticut Fire academies. Courses include Firefighter 2, Fire Officer 1&2, Fire Instructor, HAZMAT Operations, and many certifications in various training courses.

Every Monday night is a drill night where firefighters get training

A Fireman's Prayer

When I am called to duty, God,

Whenever flames may rage;

Give me strength to save some life,

Whatever be its age.

Help me embrace a little child

Before it is too late

Or save an older person

From the horror of that fate.

Enable me to be alert

And hear the weakest shout,

And quickly and efficiently

To put the fire out.

I want to fill my calling

And to give the best in me

To guard my every neighbor

And protect his property.

And if, according to my fate,

I am to lose my life,
